The player dribbles the ball from side to side in front of their body. We will use two hands for one of the drills (this skill will help them develop a killer crossover), however, this drill is mostly done with one hand. The ultimate goal is optimum ball control for one-handed moves.
A. Body is facing forward.
B. Legs are spread out a little more than shoulder width.
C. Knees are bent.
D. Back is straight or with a slight bend.
E. Head is up, eyes are looking forward.
F. Position the hand(s) always on the side, not the top, of the basketball. The fingers should be pointing straight down at the floor, not at an angle to the floor.
G. The arm(s) should swing side to side like a pendulum in front of your body.
H. The ball should move side to side in a straight line.
This is a crucial skill to learn. Almost every move will involve siding a basketball.
